Cute Furry Pets are Blessed at the First Church in Pembroke

Pets are blessed at the 300-year-old First Church in Pembroke, Massachusetts by Pastor Rick Giragosian who says "may you and the people who love you enjoy life together, and may you always find joy in the God who created you,  Amen."

The ceremonies start on Sunday, October 21st in the church parking lot with readings and a prayer from the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. "How much richer our lives are because of these furry friends," a young man says.  "We thank you for giving us pets which give us joy," says a young woman.

Meet Zaxu the cat, Chance the dog, and even Salt who is a rodent small enough to fit in his boy's hand. Pembroke Community Media Center volunteers filmed the event so you can see each pet get individually blessed.  As people and animals prepare to leave, Pastor Rick distributes brightly wrapped dog and cat treats made the week before by the congregation's children.
