Visit the 1st Church in Pembroke for 5 Minutes

Did you know that “The First Church in Pembroke” is also “The Second Meeting House in Pembroke?”

The building was erected in 1727 under the guidance of the first Minister Daniel Lewis, and served as the gathering place of The Patriots for 16 years spanning from 1760 to 1776.  The present structure was built after the original was destroyed in 1837.

Filmed on November 25th, 2012 by community volunteer Heather Lapham, this 4 minute, 42 second peek into the First Church during a service is just the thing to satisfy your Sunday worship needs.

See an old church drawing and the beautiful sanctuary chandelier, read an original note now encased in glass, take a bulletin from the ushers, sing a song, and wave “goodbye.”   There.  You went to church and enjoyed it too.

Yes You Can, with Pembroke Community Media Center

Dr. Jones - President of Pembroke Community Media Center
If you were waiting for a personal invitation to join Pembroke Community Media Center, here it is.

“Dear Human, Please volunteer!” You need us as much as we need you.  If you're not already a part of the excitement, chances are that you know someone who is.

Pembroke Tiger Scouts Learn to use Camera at Pembroke Community Media CenterWe have people who film, edit,  drive children to and from our cub scout go-and-see-its and sets/appointments, bring cookies and flowers, produce, carry equipment on-site, appear as guests on shows, leave notebooks and winter coats behind by mistake, and come around just to hang out.

One thing's missing, though, and that's you.

One Think Missing and That is You

Pembroke Community Media Center was created independently by Pembroke residents, originally for Pembroke residents, friends, and neighbors.

If you enjoy the programming at www.yourpcmc.com,  but don't have time to volunteer, you can still be a supporter and have your name or your business represented on our website,  acknowledged in one of these mailings, and posted at www.yourpcmc.blogspot.com. Or you can remain anonymous, as some have preferred. 'Fact is, we wouldn't exist without the support of our donors contributing towards the cost of cameras, tripods, and other supplies.

Catch South Coastal Hockey League Games Here

Pembroke Community Media Center has the South Coastal Men's Hockey Games playing at www.yourpcmc.com

Our favorite game is the October 21st over age 50 Legends Division struggle between the Stingers and Sharks. The yellow and black uniformed Stingers were slated to win this game of the week.

They even looked like stinging bees as they snuck the first goal between the Sharks' Goalie's legs.

Multiple cameras allowed a prime view of the ice action.

The Sharks got in more shots, but the Stingers had better aim.  It was OK viewing, so I don't want to say any more in case you have yet to catch it.

The South Coastal Hockey League first started playing in Pembroke at the Hobomock Arena in April 1989, over 23 years ago.   Games start Sunday nights beginning at 6:40 and 9:40pm, with the 9 pm game being featured.

Matthew Kreckie Produces Pembroke 300 Video Tribute

Promising young filmmaker Matthew Kreckie on December 1st made a commemorative video of Pembroke's 300th Anniversary brick walkway replete with Peter Glass's commissioned piece "Mattakeesett" for background music.

Although this is the first 300th event Matt has covered, it is not his first video.  Two YouTube channels carry his work, and each of those channels has multiple subscribers.

Matt is especially adept at green screen utilization and editing with industry-standard, professional Final Cut X software.

Matt is a freshman at Pembroke High School, involved in thespian endeavors, and on the swim team which has a demanding schedule of daily practices or meets after school.

Although the commemorative bricks are printed rather than engraved, Matt more than compensates for the flaw with his fine filming and editing.

"People will have this record of their bricks after they get walked on and the ink wears off," Matt said, "so at least they can watch the show I'm making to remember what was there."

Pack 105 Den 3 Has the Cutest Tiger Cubs Ever

Pembroke Cub Scout Pack 105, Den 3 visited Pembroke Community Media Center on Wednesday November 28th for their go-and-see-it.
With bags of popcorn and cups of water in hand; Aiden, Bradlee, Thomas, Andrew, Will, Tyler, Matthew, Parker, and Brenden sat on the rug to watch the “Pie Night with the Scouts” movie of their November 16th meeting at which whipped cream-laden plates and glasses of green gelatin with apple sauce were poured over and smashed into their leaders' faces and heads.

It was 12 ½ minutes of howling laughter for them and their proud parents.

Next came the making of their holiday public service announcement.

Mrs. Ann Ryerson expertly arranged the boys before the camera and under the umbrella lights, as she's done countless times over the past quarter of a century with other scouting dens.  Each child held a piece of paper and........... well........... that's enough information for now.  I don't want to spoil the movie by telling you what happens.

Filmed by Executive Director Mr. John Mattinson, and edited by volunteer DJ Mattinson, this is the cutest bunch of holiday well wishers I've seen this year.

The boys present themselves fearlessly and well in their public speaking roles as Tiger Cubs creating their first PSA, or Public Service Announcement, at Pembroke Community Media Center's studio in Pembroke.

Thank you, boys.  CLICK HERE to see the Pack 105, Den 3 PSA.

I AM THANKFUL FOR LOVE, A WARM HOUSE, & COLORED MASHED POTATOES

For what are you thankful?  For good things?  For the absence of bad?

The First Church in Pembroke, Massachusetts held a Thanksgiving Eve service at which members expounded upon their personal thoughts of gratitude, while others played and sung lovely music.

"For the home where I live, thank you for meadows and beautiful flowers. Thank you for rainbows and soft April showers," a young girl reads from a book as her mother approvingly looks on.  So sweet.

Next there is a solo by Jim Tucker, the choir's only male member.  "Thank You Lord for Loving Us All," he sings, "for the gifts both great and small."

Three women each speak briefly about their personal reasons and items for which they feel grateful.

Did you know that some families add color their holiday dinner by dying the mashed potatoes?  It's true, and that's something for which thanks can be given.

A constant thread throughout this video is the lovely flute and guitar duet by Julie and Greg. The crisp and airy song is presented  in three sections: at the beginning, middle, and end.

You will enjoy this quick, heartfelt, and to-the-point affirmation of faith in God's gifts.  It's 17 1/2 minutes of pure joy.  CLICK HERE to see the video
