This month's “Color Your World” guest is financial adviser Rodney Kornegay who grew up in Brockton, Massachusetts where he played high school basketball and eventually was recruited by U Mass Lowell.
After
a year he transferred to The College of St. Joseph in Rutland, Vermont, earning
bachelor degrees in both management and finance, working various jobs, and
playing basketball the whole time.
“You still have to apply.” he tells Connie,
“Even though you do get some scholarship offers you still have to apply. You still have to do your SATs, and you still
need to pass your SATs.”
Over
14 years of retail store management under his belt made Rodney comfortable with
people and better able to transition into financial management.
But
basketball is still important to 6'7” Rodney.
“I usually try to play it at least 2 to 3 times a week when I have
time. The older guys and a lot of people
that I went to high school with, we still play at the Brockton Y.”
