This
service is all about giving, sharing, and participating in miracles.
Remember
the story about five loaves of bread and two fishes feeding a crowd? There were about five thousand men AND the
women and children with them. Are we up
to 15 or 20 thousand people? Probably.
Pastor
Rick Giragosian patiently explains that when people share what's in their
pockets—some figs, raisins, bread---everyone has enough. After all, what are the odds that a group of
hikers would carry no provisions? The
miracle's mechanism is solved, and we are urged to facilitate additional,
modern-day miracles. Pastor Rick says,
“Be the first on your block to start a miracle.”
A
cute skit about giving to the church is acted out by parishioners Marsha and
Jane. We laugh at how inappropriate it
would be to not tip a waitress, then realize that it is just as bad to withhold
church offerings.
Hear
“Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee,” “The Bread That Gives Life”, “For Every Thing
There Is a Season,” and other inspirational songs.
There's
even a portion of the service during which Pastor Giragosian reads a letter
written by parishioner Laura while she stands next to him. “It's a ventriloquist act,” he jokes.
